INTECA’s Objectives

  1. Identify facilitators, barriers, and other information needed to use technology to support authentic assessment.
  2. Develop frameworks based on the current evidence to support decision-making around technology at the state and local levels.
  3. Identify existing resources and create new resources to support the frameworks.
  4. Disseminate the frameworks and resources to early intervention and preschool special education state agencies, local staff, practitioners, families, and other technical assistance centers and organizations.

What INTECA is doing

Over three years, the project will:

  • Conduct a review of the literature on use of technology to support authentic assessment in early intervention and preschool special education (including screening, eligibility determination, and monitoring progress)
  • Review information from professional organizations on guidance related to virtual assessment
  • Collect information from state staff, local program staff, and families about their experiences with technology and assessment to identify:
    • Ways in which technology can support assessment
    • The barriers to the use of technology
    • The solutions and supports needed for successful implementation.
  • Develop and disseminate materials including decision making frameworks for use by state agencies, local programs, practitioners, and families
