The INTECA project team is learning about how technology can be used to make assessments better for the families of young children with disabilities. We need your help.
We’d like to talk with families about your experiences with using technology for virtual assessment.
Assessment is the process of getting information about what your child knows and can do.
Virtual assessment means using technology as part of this process.
Technology is any device that was used to get or share information about what your child knows and can do. This may be a phone, tablet, or computer with an application like Zoom or Facetime.
Can I participate?
We want to talk with you if:
- You’re the parent or guardian of a child with a developmental delay or disability
- You have been part of a virtual assessment with your child or you or a professional recorded your child as part of an assessment
- You used technology for one or more of your child’s assessments before your child entered kindergarten
What will I do?
- You’ll participate in an interview lasting 30 to 45 minutes.
- The interview will take place over Zoom or by phone.
- We’ll ask what you liked and didn’t like about your child’s virtual assessment, how you prepared for the assessment, and anything you wish you’d known before using technology for the assessment.
- You don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to answer.
What happens after the interview?
- You’ll get a $30 gift card to thank you for your time.
- Only the project team will see your answers. We won’t share your answers with the professionals working with your child, anyone at your child’s program, or anyone else.
- Your answers will help make virtual assessments better for all families and children.
