The INTECA resources on this website are based primarily on what we learned from interviews with state coordinators, local directors, practitioners, and families around the country about their experiences with virtual assessment (VA) and technologies that support the Early Intervention (EI) and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) assessment process. This document describes the methodology for those interviews. The INTECA project team conducted interviews and two focus groups with professionals and families from 13 states in 2023 and 2024. The purpose of the interviews was to learn about how programs were using technology to conduct authentic assessments with young children who may have a disability or have been identified with one. We designed the questions to inform the development of a framework and additional resources for practitioners and families to effectively use technology to support assessment.
